Holy Crapola!
Interesting I had almost completely forgotten about this place.

Things have been swell(ish) in America's Finest City, in the sense that I live in San Diego; how could anyone find fault with that? I have a job where I am appreciated and rewarded with money and cards and emails from my managers about "what a wonderful choice we made in hiring you". I am less than 2 hours from my brother and his growing family. And I'm finally back within driving distance of *home.

So.....

I'm finding I'm not cut-out for this 9-5 (or in my case 1p-1a) job stuff. I LOVE to work, seriously, but I feel smothered by this "4 week schedule request, every other weekend, full-time" kind of lifestyle. It's. Just. Not. Me. (I haven't even been on a plane in the last 5 months)

I'm committed to San Diego until at least September when my lease expires. I once again find myself in escape-planning-mode..... The question now becomes (as always) Where?

.....Somewhere infinitely sunny comes to mind.....

Time for another lame New Years note.

This New Years Eve was decidedly less exciting than last year, in Norway, in the snow, but nonetheless it was just as happy a memory.

2010 was a half-bad, half-freking-fantastic year. Started, as I said, in Oslo with two good friends, one happens to be my BMFF. Nursing school kicked my ass for another 6 months and then, *poof* it was OVER! YEEEESSSSSS! It almost is a distant memory now, almost.

Post nursing school life has been amazing. I got a wonderful job that I (almost) always enjoy going to, a new more grown-up apartment and a new truck. All by myself. How very adult of me. I've managed to keep track of my finances AND still make and keep travel plans. Not as many travel plans as I would've liked, but plenty to keep me happy.

I've made new friends and tried to maintain old friendships, some better than others (sorry guys). I've cut ties with some people I care deeply for and I managed to say those *three words* to another person again, and mean it. Shame it had to wait to the last conversation we ever will have. I've gained new family members and have grown closer to other family members... Increased physical distance seems to help. ;)

I turned 30 and didn't die. Amazing. Unfortunately I managed to choose a place to spend my 30th birthday that meant my birthday was celebrated 8 hours earlier than if I had been in California. Ha. Loved every second of it.

Now comes the time for plans and predictions for this new year...

Begin paying off school loans. Yuck.
Apply for the MPH program I've decided on.
Work hard.
Play hard.

January: New York
February: Work Harder
March: Mardi Gras Visitors
April: So. Cali for the birth of my new nephew
May: One year out of school
June: Europe
July: California
August: try not to melt
September: Decide if I will renew my lease
October-December??? Who knows?

the Saints are going to the fucking superbowl!

last night was INSANE! people were dancing in the streets, kissing and hugging complete strangers, crying, singing, laughing. even the cop in charge of our area was saying *WHO DAT* from his loud-speaker.

i am glad i was here for this game. it was a once in a lifetime experience. something i will never forget, and something that would only happen in New Orleans.

Feb 7th will be bigger, and louder. i can't wait.

WHO DAT!
